Senior Crimestoppers

PINELLAS PARK-Raymond James Bank today presented Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living Facility with a charter membership plaque for their participation in the national Senior Crimestoppers Program.  Raymond James Bank will provide sponsorship for the nationally known Senior Crimestoppers Program at Magnolia Gardens which is located in Pinellas Park. This unique sponsorship will fully fund successful ongoing crime-prevention services at the facility at no cost to residents, taxpayers or the community.

Pinellas Park Mayor, Bill Mischler, spoke briefly at the ceremony about the importance of crime prevention and his support of the Senior Crimestoppers Program.  Also in attendance was Pinellas Park Police Captain Sandy Forseth, Pinellas Park Fire Chief Doug Lewis, Lealman Fire Marshall Ron Kemmerer, and Pilar Carvajal, Chief Operating Officer for Mia Senior Living Solutions, the management company for Magnolia Gardens.

“Raymond James Bank is pleased to be able to sponsor Senior Crimestoppers,” said Nancy McCarthy, Senior Vice President/Chief Compliance Officer for Raymond James Bank.  “We look forward to partnering with Magnolia Gardens in this program to benefit our community.”

Senior Crimestoppers is a multifaceted crime-prevention and quality-of-life program administered by the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has greatly reduced incidents of crime in nursing homes and senior-housing communities in 45 states throughout the country.  Benefits of the program include:

  • Personal lock boxes for use by residents and/or family members
  • Cash rewards for anonymous information about crime incidents
  • A 24/7 call-center tips hotline
  • Clearly marked plaques and signs throughout the facilities indicating to all that crime will not be tolerated
  • Ongoing education reinforcing a zero tolerance for crime in and around the area

“Ensuring the safety and welfare of our residents and visitors are our highest priorities,” said Sharon Stelbasky, Administrator of Magnolia Gardens, a non-profit facility with 100 apartments. “We extend a heartfelt thank you to Raymond James Bank for providing the financial sponsorship to make this a reality for our residents.”
